How K-pop fancall winners are chosen
Every fancall event has more people registering than there are calls. So the organiser has to pick. There are two common ways, and the event notice tells you which one applies.
1. Random draw
Every entry goes into a draw and winners are picked at random. Each album you buy during the registration window usually counts as one entry, so more albums means more entries, but a single entry can still be picked and a large number of entries can still miss.
2. Ranking by albums bought
Some events rank registrants by how many albums they bought during the window, and the top of the list gets the calls. In these events the number needed changes every time. It depends on how many people join, and nobody knows it until the results are out.
Some notices mix the two, for example a ranking for part of the calls and a draw for the rest.
What else can decide the result
- Only the registration window counts. Albums bought before it opens or after it closes do not count for that event.
- Each round is separate. A group often runs several rounds at once. Entries for one round do not carry over to another.
- Identity checks. Many events check that the person on the call is the person who registered. A mismatch can cancel a win.
- Rule breaks. Late payment, cancelled orders or ignoring the event rules can remove an entry.
When are winners announced?
Usually a few days after registration closes, on a date written in the notice. Winners are contacted with the call time and the app to use.
Warning signs
Be careful with anyone who:
- says a spot is certain, or “100%”,
- asks you to pay before explaining which event, which round and how the winner is picked,
- cannot tell you the registration deadline,
- contacts you from an account that is not the one listed on their website.
Nobody outside the organiser decides the winners. Our own rule is simple: we tell you how an event works and what is still possible, and we never promise a spot. See About biaslog.
